Bahria Town is no doubt, the first-class option to live peacefully in Karachi. But some of its recently announced policies had created numbers of serious issues. Yes, after forcefully demanding members to take possession of their ready properties, now Bahria Town Karachi has come up with a shocking policy of 35% additional development charges.
This patently absurd policy to pay 35% additional charges will be applicable on all the properties booked before February 2014. These properties include old plots, apartments, as well as villas launch in the first bookings of Bahria Town.
Definitely it is totally wrong to demand extra money/ charges from those who have already paid the complete payments of their properties. Many of the property owners have even taken possession of their properties and also paying utility charges. So, this is not the justification to impose such kind of additional development charges.

These additional development charges will be applicable from the 15th of February 2020. A payment plan of 5 years is announce for the payment of these 35% additional charges. There is a total of 20 quarterly installments of extra charges on all the old properties in Bahria Town Karachi.
For example: If the launching price of 125 sq. yards residential plots were 17.25 lacs. So the additional charges for the plot would be around 6 lac and 37 thousand. The plot owners will have to pay an installment of 30,000/- after every 3 months.

This new policy of Bahria Town of the additional development charges has caused an uproar on social media. Property owners have completely rejected these charges and also have filed complaints against society.

People are filing their complaints in the Supreme Court of Pakistan as well as on the Complained Cell of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
As Bahria Town is located at a far distance from the main city, and it is not such populated, so society has no authority to force members to take possession. Further, still, there are scant facilities for education, health, and business so it will be difficult for families to survive easily.
Another major concern of the people is that these additional charges are not applicable to already developed properties.
Cancellation of Additional Development Charges – False Rumors
It has been noticed in the past few days that people are spreading false news that Bahria Town has reversed or canceled these additional development charges. There is no official letter or statement by any official of Bahria Town Karachi on the cancellation of these charges.
